Hacking Cell phones and Mobile devices: Implications for Corporate Information Security Introduction: Hacking in its general terms is defined as the process in which an attacker(hacker) tries to find out the weaknesses in a computer system and exploits them. Motivation/Reasons: There are multiple reasons for the motivation of this cause, such as: 1. Profits (includes both financial and non-financial), 2. Enjoyment (just for fun), 3. Challenges (to test one s skills), or 4. To find flaws in one s own system so as to safeguard it against other attackers(Ethical Hacking). Before the invention of Smartphones, hacking techniques like the use of Viruses, Trojans, kind of Malwares were only limited for computer systems and computer networks. This does not mean that the earlier cell phones were safe and they were no attacks observed, there were attacks but were limited, one of them is the Phone hacking which allows the hacker to intercept calls and messages. However after the launching of mobile devices like Smartphones, Smartwatches and tablet computers. There has been a drastic increase in the number of attacks on mobile devices. This is mainly because the architecture and operating system of these devices is very much similar to the traditional PCs which made the attackers to develop the malwares for these devices in a very short period of time.
